Dash’s History:
Dash, previously known as Xcoin and Darkcoin, is a fork of Litecoin that faced difficulty in its early days, with the difficulty conversion being skewed and subsequent attempts to fix it worsening the issue. After this was resolved, the currency was continued without a relaunch, at the behest of the majority of the community. Moving past theses initial pitfalls, Dash has grown to become one of the more prominent cryptocurrencies in the world, with it being ranked on www.coinmarketcap.com as the 12th largest currency.
How is Dash different:
Dash is advanced in the fact that it was the first cryptocurrency to become self-sufficient through a treasury system that is uniquely unconquerable by Sybil attacks. The endeavours of the team behind Dash to improve the cryptocurrency is funded by this treasury system, with 10% of block rewards adding to this fund. Through this system, Dash has set itself up nicely for continued guaranteed growth, as this increase in funding allows for improvement, and therefore more funding, placing the currency in a positive feedback loop.
Should I invest in Dash?
Whilst prone to dips, Dash has rose significantly in value since its beginning, peaking at $1541 on the 20th December 2017. The market cap increased tenfold in the first half of 2017, and then again in the second half to reach a peak of almost 12 billion. This indicates a promising future for the currency – one that will last a long time due to the maximum supply being exhausted by only half – but it is impossible to determine whether it is a sound investment opportunity. However, it is likely to keep rising for the foreseeable future, and if faith in the coin does not waver, then it will continue to rise.

Dash can be purchased from a range of exchanges and brokers, such as Kraken and Poloniex. There is also discussion of it being introduced to more exchanges such as Coinbase.
